Butterfly Lane Shops: Bed Linen by Evencki

I'm loving simplistic yet chic bedding at the moment, plain in colour but luxurious to touch.  So you could imagine my sheer delight at finding Evencki, a bespoke bed linen company.

There is something innately stylish about 300 thread count, simple linen in a neutral palette.  Here are some of my favourite shades from their collection.

You can then add a splash of texture with a decadent throw.

I definitely recommend visiting the crisp and simple world of Evencki.

Mothering Sunday

This picture shows my family in its 1980's glory on a
cliff top in the Cyprus sunshine.
It's Mothering Sunday in UK today and it's hard to fatham that next year I will be in the elusive 'mummy club' too!

My lovely mum has been wonderful this year - not only has she supported me through 19 weeks of hellish morning sickness, by cooking, cleaning, washing, running the business and listening to my daily moans and groans, she has done this on top of maintaining her  busy diary too, no mean feat. I'm one very lucky daughter.

So, today will comprise of a big family Sunday lunch and I can't wait.  Children, dogs, puppies, adults (including one small bump) and yorkshire puddings, what more could you want!

With the arrival of British summer time today it always conjures up images of a garden full of flowers...and rose wine!  Therefore, I think it's a lovely idea to gift pot plants instead of florist flowers as they last for, well, years!  Plus you can get creative with the array of gorgeous planters that are on the market.  Here are some of my favourite designs.

Happy Mothers Day to all you lovely and hard working mums out there!

Favourite Five...

Here are my five favourite images of the day...

I love a dramatic floral display, and this collection of ceramic white urns with sprigs of lavender and that pussy willow...well, I love it!

This study really means business, I think you could run the world from that black leather chair!

I know I've been raving on about 'white-on-white' for a while now, but I cannot get enough.  This sitting room is so elegant - pass me the earl grey in a china tea cup pronto!

With a Butterfly Lane baby on the way (eek!), I can't get enough of looking for nursery inspiration.

For any brides-to-be out there these gorgeous Christian Lacroix booties are to die for!

Dreaming of Al Fresco Dining

After spending days pottering in my garden, with my main objective to collect copious amounts leaves (a dustbin and three bin bags full to be exact), the new leaf free zone has unveiled the flourishing of spring - note daffodils in full force and the sprouting of, well all sorts, my garden is beginning to pop in to life!  This inevitably gets me thinking about outdoor entertaining and it spurs me on with the mind numbing task of 'leaf collection'.

So this is the first of many blogs in the coming weeks with an 'al fresco' theme, but first things first...garden furniture!  Comfy, stylish and entertaining friendly are the key focus points I always have in mind when shopping for garden furniture.

At the moment I have 'a thing' for mosaic styles, yes they are a more traditional than most on the market but they scream Mediterranean summers.   On the FADS website there is a very stylish table combining two of my favourite summer time stylings...mosaic tiles and a fire pit that can double up as a BBQ.  I love!

Fire Bowl Table from FADS £444.99
Or this square style is fabulous too.
Miranda Square Stone Dining Table with Fire Bowl, £287.99 from FADS
I just love this quirky take on a classic teak garden table.  The central tin section is doubles as a ice bucket OR a garden planter to fill with your favourite flowers or herbs!  Love love love!  Available to buy at www.butterflylane.co.uk shortly.  Email us on customerservice@butterflylane.co.uk to be added to the waiting list.

Butterfly Lane teak table, £800
To take a more modern approach, take inspiration from the South of France with this Cannes breakfast set.  I can imagine sipping my coffee and juice with a croissant (or two) enjoying the morning summer sunshine.  The Cannes set is also available from FADS.

Cannes Breakfast Cube, £269.99
Sometimes you just need some luxe living and this collection from John Lewis does just that!

What is your garden style?

White on More White

I'm having a moment for white on white...and more white at the moment.  Practical?  Not so much.  Stylish?  Yes yes yes!

Here are a few of my favourite designs...

There are so many different shades of white that it is easy to create a level of depth to avoid that clinical blandness.  By using different shades of white it will introduce a level of warmth to the room.

Love love love this white milk bottle painting for a kitchen!

Hints of gold and cream break up an 'all white' design and still looks fresh and fabulous!

White flowers look divine in any room!

Adding texture, like this faux fur rug creates warmth to a white interior.

Hints of pale green looks fresh and chic against the white.

Adding striped fabric breaks up the plain white room.

White accessories...flowers, vase...gorgeous!

Lots of accessories break up the all white room.

Have you got an all white room?

A Spring Time Cool Over

As spring time approaches, I feel the need to rid my home of cosy winter shades and accessories and give my home a well needed 'spring cool over'.   Your winter hideaway needs to morph in to a spring time palace, and this can be simply achieved by changing fabrics and lightening the shade of your accessories with a cooler palette of white, putty, pale grey...anything light light light!

Why not banish your heavy weight curtains in the warmer months for an easy make-over.  These simple light weight, white and breezy curtains make this room have a spring time feel.  I imagine the breeze gently blowing through them whilst I relax with a glass of pinot.  Bliss.

Firstly, I love this painting, but I'm wondering off point!  The pale grey on the walls with the light upholstery screams spring time chic.

Flowers are beautiful anytime of the year, but introduce blossom stems and lashing of white for a truly spring like display in your home.

Pale walls, and this seasons must - spots and stripes!

Again, the palette is light and airy, along with the light weight curtains and spring time flowers, this room epitomises warm and lazy days...

A blissful boudoir of pale soft shades...

Are you embarking on a springtime cool over?

Beautiful Lighting

Lighting is all about balance and creating a 'feel good' factor for your setting.  It's about creating pools of light to highlight certain pieces, whether it be your dining table, a piece of art or a certain space.  Making an area 'pop' but also blend within the same space is something of trail and error, by using different styles from uplighting, hidden lights in shelving or stairs, to chandeliers and lamps, you can make a wonderfully warm and welcoming environment.

Stairway lighting looks fabulous!

Get rid of reading lights and have your bedside lighting hung elegantly (and dramatically) from the ceiling.  A favourite style at Butterfly Lane.

By using chandeliers and lamps, they not only throw out the desired light but also create a design statement too.  Here are some of my favourite statement lights...

Chandeliers look fabulous in pairs over a dining table for a jaw-dropping effect.

A decadent bathroom lighting effect...

Clean and simple...
