Easter Ideas

Easter is fast approaching and I can firmly say it is by far one of my favourite times of year.  Not only do you get to indulge in that perfectly thin Easter egg chocolate morning, noon and night...yes I do!  But it is also the perfect time to get your home looking spring fresh and to add a splash of colour.  Here are some of our favourite decorative ideas to bring some Easter fun in to your home...
Wreaths seem to be everywhere this Easter.  We are loving the egg variety from Gisela Graham which you can bring out year after year, or if you fancy a fresh floral approach, these tulip creations are gorgeous.  Simply wire the flowers to a wicker wreath and hang with a piece of pretty ribbon.

Dying eggs is an Easter must.  At Butterfly Lane we used blue food colouring in warm water to dye this egg blue for our photo shoot.

Here are some more pretty, decorative ideas for your home involving dyed eggs.

Eggs for breakfast?  It will never be the same again...

We just couldn't resist these napkins folded in to bunny shapes...

Design Blogger 'Interior Thinking' Picks Her Favourite Things From Our New Collection

Our friend at Interior Thinking has chosen her favourite things from our new collection.  See what she can't live without below....

.......................................................................................................................................

With the sun just about managing to battle its way through the clouds, the changing of the clocks drawing nearer and Easter Sunday just around the corner, it’s pretty safe to say that spring is well and truly on the way! Thank goodness for that.

Along with hiding from wasps and bulk-buying hay fever tablets, this is the season for spring cleaning, and whether it is in your day to day life or in your home, there’s something about spring which just cries out for a fresh start! They say a tidy home makes for a tidy mind, and while I don’t know about that, I’m pretty sure a nicely accessorised one certainly won’t do any harm… any excuse eh?

It’s amazing how little it can take to completely transform a room, and you don’t even need to don your overalls and dig out your DIY manual to do so. All it takes are a few new pieces to breathe life into old d├ęcor. Plus there’s no risk of accidently drilling through a water pipe! Bye bye holiday fund…

The new collection from Butterfly Lane has a great selection of reasonably priced, yet unique and beautiful pieces which are perfect for adding a little spring sunshine to your home. From cushions to mugs, Butterfly Lane has it all! Below are some of my favourite items from the new collection, and how I would use them in certain rooms.

A Butterfly Lane Kitchen

One of the biggest interior design trends this season is monochrome. The classic and forever stylish combination of black and white is not just for the winter months- you can also channel this look during spring and summer with a few carefully chosen accessories.

For example, these monochrome prints are timeless and sure to suit a range of kitchens, while these intricate napkins are a great way to introduce the monochrome trend into your home without committing. You can justify your monochrome additions as practical too with this adorable apron and matching oven gloves.

A Butterfly Lane Living Room

Spring is the perfect time to revamp one of the most used rooms in your home, the living room. As it is the room where you will often entertain your guests over the coming months (especially if the Great British weather makes a BBQ a no-no) make sure it is looking its best with some new additions.

Reclaim some femininity and no-fuss luxury with a scattering of comfy cushions in quirky, mismatched prints. Also, add a few decadent accessories such as this elegant candle holder, glass jar and hanging heart to revitalise the look of your living room.

A Butterfly Lane Bedroom

As it is the season for cleaning and organising your life, why not start with your bedroom? To make the task a bit easier and a lot prettier, invest in some beautiful bedroom accessories from Butterfly Lane.

Although usually reserved for tea bags in the kitchen, this teapot shaped dish makes the perfect dressing table tidy, while the matching mug would make an ideal makeup brush holder. Let your signature scent do the talking by decanting your favourite perfume into this vintage inspired perfume bottle, and keep loose cotton-wool buds or tissues in this adorable bird-topped jar or heart shaped dish. Also, who could resist tidying and organising their make-up collection when its home is this fun, printed bag?

A Stroll to Columbia Road Flower Market

After a lazy brunch on Sunday morning where I massively indulged on pancakes with a side of well...everything, the fiance and I (still feels strange saying that!), decided to have a walk to Columbia Road flower market, and brave the hectic central isle of the flower stalls.  I have been meaning to visit for some time now and the fact that it is only a short walk from the fiances London pad was an added bonus.

However nice it is to have a Sunday stroll it was shortly ruined by the freezing temperatures, accompanied by our inappropriate clothing choices...ski gear anyone please!?  It was the sort of cold that cuts straight through you, so we had to stop en route and buy a very wooly hat!

I was lured to Columbia Road not only by the prospect of stunning fresh flowers, but hopefully the 'reasonable' prices too.

I am always taken slightly aghast when my beloved hydrangeas cost £20 for a mere four, so I was very happy to see them on sale at Columbia Road for £7 a bunch!

It's not all about flowers and it was nice to pop in to some of the lovely independent boutiques along the road and in the area.  We fell in love with a gorgeously elegant sofa and chair at Richard Ward at WAWA which would look perfect in our study, and there are some lovely looking tea and cake shops, although we didn't partake after our mammoth pancake indulgence at brunch.

So what did I buy...

I bought some pretty Cherry Blossom at £7.50 a bunch and I just love it.

Columbia Road Flower Market is open 8am until 3pm (ish) every Sunday.

Delicate Florals Thanks to Sophie Allport

We have always been big fans of Sophie Allport's quintessentially British designs here at Butterfly Lane, so we just knew her new spring collection wouldn't disappoint.

The simple fine bone china dining staples are adorned with a pretty and delicate pink rose.  Available in mugs, milk jugs and even a tea pot, the collection is a fantastic set to start  collecting.

It is timeless and classic and whilst sipping from the pretty cups and saucers you will feel the epitome of elegance.

Here Sophie sets the scene...

“I’m a passionate gardener and the English Rose has always been a favourite.  I’ve loved designing this collection and only ever launch something that I would be happy to have in my own home.  The English Rose encapsulates all that is beautiful about a British Summer garden,” explained Sophie.  “This range helps to bring some of that magic inside!”

We also love the rose fabric, which blends a rather stylish twist with a subtle grey stripe.  I have indulged in the tea towel, oven gloves and tea cosy set which will look beautiful in my French Grey kitchen.

Here are a few more Butterfly Lane favourites from the collection.

Tea Cup & Saucer £14, Tea Pot £30

'Roses' Oven Gloves, £14

Many Roses Mug, £9.00
Also available in a Single Rose option.

Tea Cup & Saucer

Mini Milk Jug

Single Rose Mug, £9.00

The Sophie Allport 'Roses' collection is now available to buy at Butterfly Lane.

Trend: White

The abundance of all-white has caught the fashion crowd’s eye this season and has graced catwalk after catwalk, so it seems fitting to replicate this fresh and chic look in your home too.

Decorating your home in all-white shouldn’t be daunting, nor need it look sterile.  Not only does it look elegant and crisp, but it is so easy to create that 'lived in' look too.  What I love about this trend is that you don't need to worry about matching colour tones or patterns, instead put together a simple yet stylish look in top-to-toe white!

Here are some favourite looks at Butterfly Lane...

This all-white room has added warmth by using subtle hints of cornflower blue.

Modern and chic...

Love, love, love...

White grandeur...

A 'live-in' yet super stylish kitchen...

The black accents gives this white entrance hall an impressive first impression!
